How thick is the coating?
Unlike other alternatives, there is no additional thickness. The pattern is engraved into the existing surface and the stain soaks into the concrete. You won't have to worry about doors rubbing, landings not meeting, or new drainage problems (common around garage doors). There is no coating to flake up or peel around the edges.

Should I tear out and replace my concrete if it is cracked?
No. We can address and disguise existing cracks. Replacing concrete is very expensive and still does not guarantee against future cracks.

What if I don't have any existing concrete?
We can pour new concrete and finish it properly for the end decorative goal.

Do you remove coatings?
Yes, but only paint and sealers. If it is thicker than your finger nail, then we would have to discuss your special circumstance.

Can you restore the color of stamped concrete?
Yes, as long as it is not a coating.

How long before I can walk or drive on the concrete?
Your driveway can be driven on during the majority of the process. The concrete can be walked on daily.

How long does it take to complete the job?
It varies depending on the look you are striving for. A typical 600 square foot driveway will take approximately one week. Our policy is to remain on your job from start to completion. Down days are minimal and usually due to weather or to allow for client decision-making.

Do I need to let any workers in my house?
No.

Will there be any equipment or mess left on the job site?
No. There will be no dumpsters, portapotties, or trash piles left on the job.

Is this work environmentally friendly?
Yes. We utilize existing concrete. The energy used to break up, tear out, process, and transport materials is avoided.

Do the products Capstone Concrete use have a proven track record?
We use commercial grade acid staining and sealing products from long-standing companies who have the best reputations in the industry: www.scofield.com and www.kemiko.com.

Will the color fade?
The fading is minimal even in extreme exterior applications. Acid stain color is not achieved by low grade pigments, but by an oxidation process similar to the process that colors real stone in the natural environment.

Will the surface be slippery after it is sealed?
No. We etch and profile the surface to a point to where it will permanently be slip resistant.

What about maintenance?
This surface requires little to no routine maintenance. Depending on personal preference the surface may look more appealing as the elements allow it to age and patina in a natural way over time. If you want the surface to look fresh like the first day it was completed it may be washed and re-sealed about every three years yourself or by us for a minimal cost.
